At the end of last school year, Michael and I began to discuss whether or not to enroll Riley Jack in some sort of preschool program. We didn't have to look far, my friend Kelly Bramblett attends First Baptist of Kennesaw and raves about their preschool/school program. Probably has nothing to do with the fact that she used to teach there. Never the less, the school came highly recommended. After dawdling for several weeks, I finally filled out the paperwork and turned it in at the beginning of July. They called us back to have Riley Jack tested. Little did we know that Molly Claire would come the evening of the day I took him in for testing. That same day, we discovered that there were no openings in the 5 day class we had wanted for him. So, his name went on a waiting list. If we changed our minds and wanted to go with the 3 day program, just let them know. Four or Five weeks went by and Michael and I decided that now was the best time to enroll him and three days a week would work out great. So off we went on the 21st of August to preschool orientation and to meet his teacher Ms. Mitchell. All went well, we even discovered that my principal, Dr Daniel's son is in his class. We are looking forward to a great year.
Cheesing
Riley Jack is styling in his packback...(this is what he calls it)
"Hurry mom I'm ready to go" The first day when I dropped him off in car line, he unbuckled his seat belt by himself, shut the van door and walked hand in hand with a teacher into the school without even saying goodbye. I'd say he likes school. When I picked him up, the biggest event of the morning was the fact that he went potty at school..."and mommy did you know they have little potties" Also, Riley Jack was very proud of the fact that he did not cry..."mommy, I didn't cry, thaniel cried all day mommy" I'm so proud of him, I'm glad we decided to go ahead and send him. Hey....it gives me a little break and some time to get to know who Molly Claire really is.
Week 6
Week 6 brought on the hope that Molly Claire would begin sleeping a little longer during the night. No such luck. We've started to cluster feed in the evening, with no positive results yet. Molly Claire still sleeps in the bassinet next to our bed, by Friday, I think I will move her to her crib. The little princess has quite the appetite, she can down almost 38 ounces in one day. Riley Jack never ate that much. We are still trying to work out her gassy issues. Gripe water is on the way from www.colicease.com It is supposed to work miracles. We've tried a brand made by baby bliss, but have yet to see any difference in her gas issues. Maybe time is the only thing that will help. Who knows, I just hate to see her in such discomfort....and no she is not allergic to milk-based formula.
Week 6 also brought my 6 week postpartum checkup...Yippee! Aren't those fun???? No worries, all checked out well.
She is changing so fast! We still think she looks like Riley Jack. Maybe when she gets hair???????
"Mommy, I'm just so pooped, I can barely lift my head up"
One of her first real smiles. Check out that double chin.
Who would have thought that Riley Jack would love the camera so much......heaven forbid I take more pictures of Molly Claire then him.

Week 5
Doesn't she look so cute in her sundress. "Thanks Aunt Lori and Uncle Justin, I'm big enough to wear them now" I wonder what she is thinking about?
On Tuesday,(8/19/08) we met Addie Grace and her mommy Krista at Starbucks for a coffee and then we headed over to Hobgood Park to play. Riley Jack loved playing with Addie Grace.
I think these two will be so close. Riley Jack is always interested in what Molly Claire is doing, and wants to do stuff for her...ie. cover her up, put her binky back in her mouth, tell me she is crying. He is a great big brother.
Tummy time anyone? Molly Claire is beginning to express herself through various facial expressions. She enjoys tummy time, just not for long.

Week 4
Week four brought on Baby Acne......yuck! Molly Claire is doing better and is back up to her birth weight of 7lbs 15oz.(she lost almost a whole pound her first two weeks of life) Apparently, I don't produce good rich fatty breast milk, so after four weeks of nursing(supplementing the last two) have chosen to feed Molly Claire formula. She is plumping up nicely and is doing fabulous with the formula. Breast milk or formula....the girl is gassy. I told Michael I was going to nickname her tooter. Michael tells me....like mother like daughter. I protest! Riley Jack is adjusting as well as can be expected. He absolutely adores Molly Claire and says all the time...."she's so cute" Whatever issues he does have he totally takes out on me. Nothing a little love won't cure. Or as Dr. Kevin Leman would say...."say it once, turn your back, walk away" I'm gonna try that one day.
Molly Claire hanging out...she can only take this for about 90 seconds.
ohhhh, so cute, cute, cute. I love these little ears, they respond very well to my shh shh shh when she is fussy.
TINY TOES, what do you think? Flat feet like daddy?
I think this is a fabulous picture of Riley Jack!

Amanda comes for a visit
After missing her visit with little Molly Claire earlier in the week, Amanda comes back to get a peek. Thanks Amanda for the yummy Chicken manicotti.
Every child that come to our house, loves this little rocker. It used to be Michael's when he was little. Athena is enjoying a quick rock in the rocker.

Riley Jack loves his little sister!
Riley Jack loves to help with his little sister. The best time of day is in the early morning, when he is not quite awake. He lays next to her in our bed and tells her he loves her and lets her know how cute she is. He also loves to "feed" her. He tries to hold the bottle with his cheek..It is way too cute.
Oh Yeah!....Happy Birthday to me!
Krista and DJ took us out for my birthday. We celebrated at Texas Roadhouse...yum, yum. It was such a treat to get out, I enjoyed every minute of it.
We celebrated with the yummiest cake, thanks Mom and Pops.
Of course Riley Jack put the candles in and had to help me blow them out.
Say cheese!
Labor and Delivery...MC first bath...Hospital Days
Now that I have satisfied those that needed to see pictures, I'll try and remember all the details of Molly Claire's labor and delivery and the events that followed.
Wednesday morning, my sister Missy and her family(Fred and Baby Brooklynne) arrived in the wee hours after driving all night. They had vacation that week and had made plans with us previously to come for visit whether or not I had a baby by then. Obviously....no baby yet. I had my weekly appt that morning, and Missy and baby Brooklynne (her 6mth old daughter) joined me. Merrilee my midwife shared that I was about 4 1/2 cent and 80% effaced. She worked her magic and we left the office. We headed to Wal-Mart for a few items and I began to feel the first few twinges of uncomfortablness in my back. No biggy right, I'd been feeling twinges for three weeks. Same old thing.....right. Trying not to get excited we headed home and spent the early part of the afternoon just hanging out.
Around 2pm mild contractions started about 10 minutes apart. I texted Michael around 2:45 and told him he might want to come home. He never got that text. So.....I called him and told him that I thought today was the day......he made it home by 3:30...Hee Hee. Still not wanting to get ahead of myself....we leisurely got ready to go. I with Freddie's help finished putting dinner together, took a shower and threw some last minute things in our hospital bag. We left the house around 5pm. We left the boys in my sisters very capable hands. During our drive to the hospital, Michael's mom called and he misled her into believing he was on his way home from work......Alright he outright lied! We had not told anyone that we were in labor. We wanted to wait to make sure that when we got to the hospital all was a go and we would be having a baby that evening. We didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. It was kinda funny: I called the midwife on call on our way in to the hospital, well she must of alerted them b/c I didn't have to wait to check in, they told me to go right on up to labor and delivery and Michael would fill out all the paperwork. This was a much different experience than with Riley Jack...(he was a scheduled induction and we had to wait for a room)
The first order of business once I got into the room was getting me hooked up to penicillian b/c I had tested positive for GBS (group B strep) (very common in pregnant women, no big deal). They wanted to me to complete four hours of this treatment. I however, did not want to be tied to the bed......so the sweet nurse gave me an IV pole and I was able to walk around my room and the hallways and labor. Much better than being stuck in a bed. In one of the photos....Michael caught me pole dancing....hee hee. jk
As the contractions grew stronger....I didn't think I would be able to hold out till 10pm for them to break my water.....so, my midwife broke my water at 8:52 and Molly Claire was born at 9:08pm. Michael said I was whistling through the really strong contractions and I was climbing up the bed and sitting on the babies head. I do remember the midwife telling me I had to hold my legs and I told her I could not...I had a death grip on the side bars of the bed. Overall, Molly Claire's birth was a beautiful reality. I'm very thankful, I was able to be in control of my body and not have to have an epidural.....don't get me wrong, had I not been able to handle it I would have demanded one. My midwife told me I did a great job and that I had a high thresh hold for pain. Ha! She also told me I made cute little noises when I was in pain (whatever that means).
So.....there is our labor and delivery story.
After our arrival home at HOTEL BARBER......we enjoyed spending time with our family and the many friends that stopped by. We are very blessed to have such a wonderful circle of people who love us.
