Playtime...trying to catch a smile

Trying to catch that elusive smile is a difficult task. She looks a little puzzled.
Here is a tiny glimpse of a smile. Molly Claire loves to stare up at the star underneath her Baby Einstein Playmat

She has learned that if she kicks or hits with her hand any part of the playmat, the lights on the star light up and play a song. It was way too cool to watch her figure it out.

TWO MONTH CHECK UP!

Molly Claire snoozing in the waiting room of KenMar Pediatrics, waiting for her turn
Molly Claire did a great job at her 2 month check up, she was weighed and measured and didn't even fuss. She also was a champ when it was time for her vaccinations. Of course she cried.....but not for long. Riley Jack went to the Doctor with us, and he was busy, busy, busy. He was a good boy, but when it came time for Molly Claire to get her shots, you should have seen him,......he was so worried for Molly Claire, it was way too cute.

Molly Claire weighs in at the 90% at 13lbs 2oz and in the 80% for height 23 1/2 inches

Week 8

For those of you keeping up with the blog and actually reading all the nonsense that I write, you will recall that we have considered Molly Claire a fussy baby. Going so far as to consider her to have colic and ordering gripe water online to ease her discomfort. Alas, last Thursday 9-4-08, I was at my wits end. My Godmother Roxanne was flying in that evening and I had not been able to get anything done, not even a shower. I could not get Molly Claire to calm down without me holding her. Poor Riley Jack was watching me come unglued by the second. I was waiting for Michael to get home from work so I could have a moments peace while driving (by myself)to the airport to pick up Roxanne.

Michael suggested we try the purple canister of formula that we had received in the mail as a sample. It was reputed to be easier on a babies tummy b/c it had partially broken down proteins....whatever. Long story short, Molly Claire is a completely different baby. It happened with the first changed bottle....a blessing. She is content, she is no longer in discomfort....she is a joy. She appears happier, she smiles and cooes, where before she was not doing any of those things. Yeah, daddy for making me change formula. You are the best!

Weekend with Ra Ra

Roxanne is mine and my sisters Godmother. She has known us since birth. Her and my dad knew each other way back when. I can always remember her being in our lives. She is full of wisdom and grace. As a small girl, RaRa instilled in me the love of two things.....swimming and photography. I always remember Ra with her camera. I am "borrowing" a fabulous collage she did of my sister and I when we were little. Ra Ra also taught me how to float in water. I have a distinct memory of her teaching me in to float in the pool by the marina when I was a young girl. I've loved water ever since.

Since my parents are both only children, Roxanne is my closest "relative", I am so glad that we have been spending more time together and that she is getting to know my kids. Riley Jack calls her Aunt RaRa. She has many gifts to share and I am thrilled that I get to be a recipient of them.

Love you RaRa!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL!

For the past two years....Labor Day weekend/Michael's birthday, I've had to compete with a softball tournament that Michael has played in with the church league. This was a big bummer last year when Michael turned 30. (I know, he is still such a baby). I wanted to throw him a big bbq with all of our friends and such. Well, I didn't let the softball tournament stop me this year. Because he wasn't expecting it, I turned it into a surprise party. The majority of his "guy" friends also play softball...so I planned it for Monday (September 1st) his actual birthday. My first mistake, was sending the invite through my school email address. I guess b/c of the firewall, I did not receive one response from anyone. I was beginning to think no one was coming.....(we ended up having about 25 people come). The second mistake was I planned it for 12:00pm. Michael's parents were in town visiting and I wanted them to be able to be there; yet still have plenty of time to get home to High Springs.

On Monday morning we are all loafing around the house(Michael did not get in from the softball tournament till 3am) when the time gets away from us and I couldn't get Michael to leave the house....you know for the big surprise. So around 11:30, Michael and dad are still in their pj's. Cheryl and I are running around trying not to be obvious that 25 people are about to arrive on our doorstep. Anyway....in the end, I had to just tell Michael, he needed to get upstairs and get dressed as his closest friends would be arriving soon to celebrate his birthday. We had a great time, dad manned the grill and we enjoyed lots of food and a fun time with our friends.

Singing Happy Birthday to Michael! I made red velvet cupcakes with creamcheese icing..yum yum
