Hanging out at the entrance of Lullwater, checking out the damage the floods caused in Legacy Park.
The story goes like this.....it rained, and rained and rained and it didn't seem to want to let up. At 9:30 in the morning it was still so dark out. I called to check on mom and the kids and suggested she may want to leave a little early to pick up RJ from preschool. A few moments later, Kennesaw 1st Baptist called, stated they were closing early and could RJ be picked up. And away Cheryl went(at 12:30pm).....however, we had gotten an email from Legacy Park HOA stating that the road between Kentmere and Lullwater was closed. When mom left she couldn't go right (which was the way that was still supposed to be open)...so she went left, which was supposed to be the road that was closed.....whatever. Anyway, it took her about 40 minutes to reach Kennesaw First Baptist. After she picked up Riley Jack she was unable to get back into the front entrance and the entrance in Kentmere....hmmmm, what to do? MollyClaire was screaming b/c she had not eaten lunch yet and Riley Jack had fallen asleep. Chick fi la it was. Mom headed to get sister some lunch at Chick fi la. In the mean time, Michael had called us both and let us know he was on his way home and would meet mom at the Chick fi la.... I was still at school (Kennesaw Mountain HS)...working. Time passes........Michael could not get to the chick fi la b/c the road on hwy 41 became flooded and impassable. Mom still had to find a way home. Thankfully, there is a back entrance to Lullwater. It is a private entrance and is usually not open to the public. We all used the back entrance and spent an inordinate amount of time on the road trying to get to the back entrance. We all rolled in around 5pm safe and sound. Whew, what a day, and that is our flood story.
